A Multitude of Parties!

This past weekend was the Labor Day weekend, and our family did indeed labor.... we labored to have a lot of fun! The weekend started off with attending the wedding of my cousin and his fiance (grown-ups only were invited, so no photographs of Julia or Theo). The next morning, the family awoke early and was on the road at 6:30 am to headed to Julia's Mom's family reunion held each Labor Day. This year, the reunion was held in East Jordan, Michigan. Finally, my sister and brother-in-law invited all of us to their neighborhood's block party held this year on the Monday of Labor Day.

The images of our little Julia start when we arrive at East Jordan. Julia leaps out of our minivan and looks around at the reunion festivities. Campers, games, food, and all sorts of fun are scattered about in every direction. Here we see little Julia contemplate what she would like to participate in first:



Julia decides very quickly that she wants to do "everything" and goes off to see relatives to say hello. Here we can see how beautiful our little girl is:



One of the events that is a regular staple at the reunion is a "fishing" contest for the younger kids. The kids fish by guiding a fishing pole (the line and hook (a large, safe, kid-friendly hook)) through an open window of either the host's home or their camper. Hiding behind the window, the host running the event attaches a prize that the kids can then reel in. This year, the theme of the reunion was "Easter". The kids pulled out an Easter Basket filled with all sorts of fun items. In Julia's basket, she was delighted to find a pair of bright pink sunglasses:



When asked to pose stylishly, our little girl was happy to oblige:



Julia and her brother, Theodore, were both very excited with their "catch". Here, both of them both are sitting, enjoying some shade, and showing off a few of their prizes:



The next day, at my sister and brother-in-law's block party, the key form of excitement for little Julia was in getting to play with Sparky, my sister's dalmatian. Julia loves all animals, but since we have two cats and no dog currently, she becomes especially excited when she gets to play with dogs or puppies. Here, we see her petting Sparky. The light level inside the house was very low, so I apologize for the poor condition of the image:
